 Description

A copper-alloy sexfoil mount of unknown date, probably Medieval to Post Medieval. The mount, which has been stamped from a piece of sheet, has a sub-conical central portion, at the apex of which is a rivet hole. Six grooves radiate outwards from this hole, dividing the surface into six equal-sized petals, each of which extends to a point.

 Description

A cast copper alloy mount dating to the Post Medieval period. The mount is of an openwork design, the front design has a cart wheel motive in the center. The reverse is plain except for two integral copper alloy rivets projecting from the back, these would have held the mount in place on a strap or belt. The surviving rivets curve through 90 degrees, tapering in thickness to a point.

 Description

A medieval copper alloy mount. The head shows a knight wearing a round helmet over a chain mail hood which covers both cheeks. The back is completely flat; there is a deep hole in the rear that could have been used as a fixing point. There are small remains of a red pigment on the front and it appears that it has been broken off at the base.

A copper-alloy anthropomorphic mount, probably used as an escutcheon for a vessel of unknown date. The mount is in the form of a human face with moulded features and hair. It is convex and has an integral circular shank fixing from the bottom of the reverse.

 Description

A medieval copper-alloy mount. The sub-circular mount has been cut from a piece of sheet metal. A rivet hole is located at the centre of this and has a slight indentation from being punched. There are three additional smaller rivet holes; one still contains the remains of an iron pin. This consists of a crude four petalled leaf pattern contained within a circle; there are a few trace remains of gilt.

 Description

A Copper alloy mount. Cast bar mount with a central annular boss with bevelled wall standing proud of the rest and with smaller terminal lobes at either end, both pierced and both retaining a rivet. Suggested date: Medieval, 1150-1300 AD. Similar versions are recorded as 13th Century in Egan and Pritchard's Dress Accessories, (1991, 213-214, nos. 1147-1153). A number have also been reported to the PAS in copper-alloy such as WILT-203F83 + WILT-3962CF and silver KENT-967F99.
