Research data conducted by Vegar Toska : 2nd Lieutenant William F Hall, from California (O-745368), he is listed as killed in action (KIA), 10th February 1944, serving with the 378th Fighter Squadron. He was flying a P-47D Thunderbolt, and was shot down near Vaassen in the middle of Holland. I think he was born in 1923. Here is what happened that day: "The Feb 10, 11, & 12 missions were led by Col. Francis S. Gabreski. He was assigned to "break in" the

362nd leaders. The group escorted heavy bombers across the Zuider Zee in N. Holland. when they turned back for home they were jumped by several me 109's. I'll quote " Blood Sweat & Fears" by James Anderson. Also during this mission, one flight of the 378th Fighter Squadron was jumped by several ME109's near Balkberg Germany. During the ensuing fight, Lt. William F. hall, a California pilot, was lost in the action. He was the first combat casualty of the 378th. Died Age 21
