A die-stamped, two-piece uniform button with separate brazed/soldered shank; circular; a fouled anchor on a stippled oval field with cabled borders to both the stippled field and outer diameter; backmarked: HAMMOND TURNER & DICKINSON; gilded overall. A button of the Royal Navy in use between 1812 and c.1825. The buttonmaking company was established in Birmingham in 1717.

A die-formed Royal Yacht Squadron uniform button with separate fitted shank; circular; slightly convex front; flat back; missing shank; three fouled anchors and the letters R Y S. Founded in 1815 as 'The Yacht Club', it acquired Royal status in 1820 when the Prince Regent, a member since 1817 ascended the throne as George IV in 1820. In order to qualify for membership, a prospective candidate was required to be the owner of a vessel, not less than 10 tons.

A die-formed three-piece button; hollow; convex front; flat back; crimped joint; separate brazed/soldered wire-loop shank; a pennant charged with a saltire with a fouled anchor, all within a cable-pattern border, incribed around the top "S A & C S N Co"; backmarked, C ROWLEY BIRMINGHAM; gilt. The finder has suggested the button could be of the 'South American & Coastal Steam Navigation Co'.
